Titanya Monique Dahlin captures the audience with mesmerizing drama, humor and graceful dance complete with sword balancing, a unique mask dance as well as the dance of the seven veils, and live music by members of Sherefe´. This powerful story, translated from clay tablets (2500 B.C.) is based upon Inanna, the Goddess of Love and War who descends to the underworld to understand what lies within the darkness and to face her evil sister, Erishkigal. To reach her, she must pass through seven gates. On her journey, she meets a slew of strange and challenging characters, guaranteed to challenge your imagination.
This production was met with rave reviews and sold out audiences in Ashland, Oregon. This is the first release of the production in Colorado. The Oregon Daily Tidings says, “Titanya’s mastery, flair, eloquence and symbolic representation within this powerful story, is indeed ~ poetry in motion.”
Dahlin, a Boulder resident is best known for her one-woman show last year, Scheherazade ~The Veil Behind the Blade and her annual production of The Goddess Dances. She has performed and taught throughout Europe, the United States, Australia, the South Seas and Canada. background we need to understand the current crisis.

2:00 PM: Jerusalem: an Interfaith Dialogue facilitated by acclaimed
negotiation expert and bestselling author William Ury, will feature
prominent representatives from the three faith traditions-Jewish, Islamic

include Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi and Palestinian Ziad Mughrabi.

virtuoso Nabil Azzam will perform together in the Boulder Public Library
Auditorium in a transcultural musical dialogue of Western and Middle Eastern
classical works as part of the global celebration of the year 2000 as a
“Year of Culture and Peace” proclaimed by the United Nations. As two of
Israel’s finest musicians and representatives of the Arabic and Jewish
people, the remarkable musical chemistry and warmth generated between these
vibrant artists comes to us as a ray of hope amidst the current backdrop of
strife that has befallen the Middle East.
The “Music for Peace” program scheduled for November 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the
Boulder Public Library Auditorium is part of a series of cultural events in
the United States jointly presented by partnership of UNESCO and the Center
for Jewish Culture and Creativity (CJCC). in collaboration with the Cultural
Affairs departments of the Consulates of Israel and municipalities and local
institutions in various communities.

The City of Boulder has proclaimed the week of November 6 to12 a “Week of
International Peace Through Culture,” (see attached press release) in
conjunction with the “Music for Peace” and “A Day for Peace” events.

“Boulder was selected as a community in the series because of its
traditional emphasis on, and support for, the cultural arts and
multicultural programming,” said Sasha Toperich, who, in addition to his
international musical career serves as a UNESCO Ambassador of Peace and the
Coordinator or International Projects for the Los Angeles and Israel based
CJCC.
“A Day for Peace” includes a number of events which are being offered free
to the public Sunday November 12th at downtown Boulder’s Masonic Lodge. One
of these offerings, “Jerusalem: an Interfaith Dialogue”, facilitated by
acclaimed negotiation expert and bestselling author William Ury, will
feature prominent representatives from the three faith traditions-Jewish,
Islamic and Christian- who recognize Jerusalem as their holy city. They
will discuss the difficulties facing the process of peace. Featured
participants include Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi and Palestinian Ziad
Mughrabi.

Sheldon Sands of Shalhevet Productions, the organizer of the Boulder event,
commented that “Our community and its municipal leadership are pleased to
host these artists and events as a further step in linking us with the
global community. This program meets our objective of sharing the best
talent expressing the Jewish and Middle Eastern ethos with the people of
Boulder.” Sands added that the artists would be available for questions and
answers during a reception following the concert.

“I am very pleased to perform in the embracing atmosphere of Boulder and to
add my instruments to the sound of peace,” said Nabil Azzam, who performed
together with Toperich earlier this year in the Los Angeles and San Diego
metropolitan areas. Azzam is the founder of the Nazareth Conservatory of
Music and of the Galilee Symphony Orchestra and is a member of the CJCC’s
Artistic Advisory Council. Azzam and Toperich will each feature in the
program Colorado premiers of their new compositions. The concert will also
include appearances by special guests Sherefe, Boulder’s Middle Eastern and
Balkan music ensemble.
